Meet the Educator Behind Money Mystery Detectives®
I’m Reka. And I’m a proud US Navy veteran, former classroom teacher, and the Chief Coin Investigator of Money Mystery Detectives®.
After years of teaching third graders and English learners, I noticed something troubling: kids are taught how to count money, but not how to manage it. As a result, many of us step into adulthood already in the hole - repeating the same financial cycles we grew up watching.
Growing up, I learned, indirectly, that high income wasn’t for people like me. I heard things like money doesn’t grow on trees, we can’t afford that, and we have to make our money stretch. I watched adults work jobs they didn’t love, earn paychecks that didn’t match their effort, pay bills, and remain stuck year after year.
With time, intentional learning, and better habits, that mindset began to change. I realized something life-changing: I was capable of earning, managing, and growing money too.
That realization is why I created Money Mystery Detectives.
My mission is simple: to equip students with the money mindset and confidence to make smart financial decisions in a stress-free, age-appropriate environment - before it truly counts.
